Lara S. Sutton, MS, RD, CDN is a summa cum laude graduate of Boston University’s
College of Arts and Sciences, where she earned a degree in psychology. Following
graduation, Lara moved to Manhattan and sought a position in magazine publishing
in order to refine her knowledge and skill in her favorite areas of interest:
fashion, fitness, and health.
After spending 3 years at Glamour Magazine, Lara decided to switch
career paths as she was craving personal fulfillment. Glamour, by
virtue of its emphasis on beauty, fashion, lifestyle and health, had kindled
in her a passion for further education. A fascination
and respect for the science of food and nutrition, and their impact on people’s
overall health and well being, was born.
Lara enrolled at New York University where she completed her coursework
and internship to achieve her Registered Dietitian licensure and obtained
her Masters Degree in clinical nutrition.
Following graduation, Lara accepted a position at Long Island College Hospital
where she counseled pregnant women, as well as diabetics, patients with heart
disease and hypertension, and people simply seeking to lose weight. With
this as her background, Lara began to build on her knowledge and experience,
and formed the basics of her nutrition and lifestyle strategies for LSM Nutrition. Lara’s
goal was to transform the typical counselor-client dynamic into a more ambitious,
proactive relationship by redefining the traditional passive counselor role
into that of an active nutrition “coach!”
Lara ‘s philosophy is based on the principal that in order for people
to achieve their diet-related goals, they need more than just verbal “cookie-cutter” recommendations. Lara
believes people need (and will thrive with) a realistic, personalized plan,
along with the support and motivation offered by a nutrition “coach" to
achieve success.
Lara is a member of the American Dietetic Association, The Greater NY Dietetic
Association, the ADA Women’s Health and Reproductive Nutrition Practice
Group, the ADA Weight Management Practice Group, and the ADA Nutrition Entrepreneurs
group.
Lara’s hobbies include fitness, cooking, traveling, going to the beach,
reading, and playing with her niece and nephew.
